The Impactful Work of the Goshen Rotary Club and Its Commitment to Community Service

Aired June 29th 2025

The Goshen Rotary Club, distinguished by its long-standing history and dedication to community betterment, exemplifies the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self." With roots tracing back to 1924, this formidable organization has long been a beacon of philanthropy and community service, both locally and internationally.

Rotarian Ron Klieverik, recently interviewed about the club's initiatives, highlighted the Goshen Rotary Club's extensive work within their community and beyond. "We are trying to, with the motto of service above self, to do our best locally and internationally," Klieverik emphasized. This commitment has manifested in various service projects, both near and far.

Local Initiatives

Locally, the Goshen Rotary Club has made a significant impact through projects such as their partnership with Bayside Camp in Middletown. Bayside Camp offers enriching experiences to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity. The club's involvement ranges from hands-on assistance to financial support, ensuring that these transformative camp experiences continue.

Additionally, the club actively supports education, annually distributing dictionaries to Goshen School District third graders. These tangible resources, while simple, make a lasting impression, offering students their own book and introducing them to new learning tools.

International Efforts

Globally, the Goshen Rotary Club contributes to Rotary International funds and the Polio Plus program, striving to eradicate polio worldwide. As Klieverik disclosed, "The fight continues... in many different, especially challenging, rural areas." This ongoing commitment underlines the club’s dedication to overcoming obstacles for global health betterment.

The club’s international endeavors also include collaborations, such as a recent partnership with the Rotary Club of Montreal to support water and sanitation projects in Western Africa. These efforts reflect a cohesive mission to improve global living conditions by leveraging collective resources and partnerships.

Upcoming Fundraising Event

One of Goshen Rotary's major fundraising activities is an annual 5K/10K run happening on July 5th. This event aims to gather participation from around 550 runners in the village of Goshen. Participants can register via Run Signup to support the continuous work of the Rotary.
